Stay Healthy and Fit through Juniper Online Classes

Juniper is a Minnesota-based organization that brings evidenced-based health and wellness classes to older adults, helping them stay well, improve their balance, prevent falls, and get fit! Until March 2020, these classes met face to face with groups of people and an instructor. Now these classes are being offered online, meaning a course might be offered in Paynesville and someone 90 miles away in Brainerd can take it!

2nd Half with Lyngblomsten has partnered with Juniper in the past to offer in-person classes, so we’re excited to share these online opportunities with you! If you are struggling with diabetes, chronic pain, heart disease, depression, or any other chronic condition, one of the Living Well classes might be just right for you. If you are concerned about your ability to get around safely and you want to avoid falling, check out the Tai Ji Quan or the Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) class.

Living Well With Diabetes

Wednesdays, December 8, 2021–January 19, 2022 • 10 AM–12:30 PM via Zoom

This class is for people with Type 2 diabetes. Classes are facilitated from a highly detailed manual by two trained leaders, one or both of whom have diabetes themselves. Participants will make weekly action plans, share experiences, and help each other solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out their self-management program. Physicians, diabetes educators, dietitians, and other health professionals both at Stanford and in the community have reviewed all materials in the class. Class size limited to 12–16.

Please note: This workshop is open to Minnesotans ages 60+ and is sponsored by the Faith Community Nurse Network. There is no class on Wednesday, December 29.

Class leaders: Cindy Bernards and Jessica Drecktrah
