Dementia-Friendly Faith Community Networking Event

Free

with Carolyn Klaver, RN

Calendar Jun 1, 2022 at 10 am

Wednesday, June 1 • 10–11 AM via Zoom

With a growing awareness in many faith communities of the challenges posed by dementia, faith community members and staff are beginning to explore ways to make their congregations more dementia friendly.  Come join us at this networking event to learn more about becoming a Dementia-Friendly Faith Community.

Faith communities want to be welcoming places where people who are living with dementia, and their caregivers who share their journey, can continue to nurture and grow their faith. By honoring and building on the strengths and gifts of those living with dementia, faith communities can find ways to meaningfully engage those with dementia and their caregivers, so that they continue to feel loved, valued, and welcomed.

You do NOT have to be trained in the Dementia-Friendly Faith Communities program to attend this networking event. Please share this with anyone who might be interested in becoming a Dementia-Friendly Faith Community.

This event is open to people of all faiths.

FREE
Registration preferred by May 31.

Memory Collective :: Tuesday group

$175

with Carolyn Klaver, RN

Calendar Jul 12, 2022 at 10 am, runs for 8 weeks

Memory Collective :: Summer 2022 (Tuesday group)

(Tuesday group) Tuesdays, July 12 – August 30 • 10–11:30 AM

Let us know your interest or register by going to https://www.lyngblomsten.org/community-services/memorycollective/

This enrichment class can only accommodate 8 participants.

The Memory Collective is an eight-week online enrichment class for adults living with mild cognitive impairment or experiencing early skill changes with memory, language, visual perception or processing, filling a gap for those early in their diagnosis and providing meaningful connections with others on a similar journey.

For the first seven weeks, you and (if desired) a guest of your choosing (e.g., friend, family member, spouse) will gather virtually with others for a 90-minute online Zoom session facilitated by Lyngblomsten staff. Each session will feature a variety of educational topics and activities, as well as time for you and other participants to share your life experiences as you learn from one another and build a social group. The theme for the Summer 2022 quarter is Minnesota TRAVEL!

On the eighth week, the group will come together for a tour at a local location. Week 8 will not be available on Zoom.

While the changes you are experiencing can be challenging, you don’t have to face it alone. Sign up for the Memory Collective and experience how online relationships can bring joy and laughter into your life!

Class Leader: Carolyn Klaver, RN, Community Dementia Care Specialist for 2nd Half with Lyngblomsten

Fee: $175 for eight sessions; covers any guests who may attend the sessions. There may be an additional small fee to cover the in-person outing.

Registration required:

  • There must be a minimum of 2 participants in order to start the class.
  • If class is able to start with at least 2, registration can stay open until week 4 for others to join in.
  • If class doesn't have 2 participants registered, class will be canceled on day before the start.
